Jordan Lyles was called up to the big leagues for at least two starts until Wandy Rodriguez returns from the DL. Add a third start for Lyles at MMP on June 11. GM Ed Wade says that Wandy continues to have elbow tenderness which affects his breaking pitches. Wandy will require more time on the DL, and may undergo a minor league rehab stint.
Wow. I guess those high pitch counts were too much for Wandy's elbow, but Jordan Lyles will make his major league debut on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs (h/t to Astros County).
I guess they are going to let me write from time to time on the Astros at my new job. Here's my first column on the team, so click that link a bunch so they'll be impressed on how much traffic my stories generate.
At Penn League Report, my New York Penn League Blog, I previewed the 2011 Tri-City Valley Cats, the Astros Short Season affiliate. Enjoy.
Hey guys - Over at Minor League Ball, we're doing a community mock draft for the upcoming draft. Our mock draft will be held on Sat., June 4th and I'll be drafting for the Astros. Leading up to that, of course, I want the help and opinions of Astros fans! If you stop by this link, and the follow-ups to it over the next two and a half weeks, together we can put together a philosophy for the draft, and a list of players to target in the first three rounds (pick #11, #69 and #99).
It will be broadcasted on Fox Sports Houston as well as Astros.com and MLB.com according to the linked tweet from Alyson Footer.
