Quick Notes
The Padres’ postseason hopes are on life support as they welcome the Astros to town. After spending a majority of the season in control of a WC spot and threatening for the division, they now sit a half game back from the Reds, with the Phillies and Cardinals both within striking distance of pushing past them.
This comes after a two week stretch during the second half of August where the Padres lost four consecutive series, including a sweep at the hands of the Dodgers that really put a dent in their October hopes. Still, nothing is written in stone and though the division seems well out of hand, the Friars are in control of their own destiny when it comes to the second WC spot.
