Astros Prospect Report: July 4th

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (29-22) won 11-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Skeeters came out of the gate quick putting up 4 runs in the first inning on a De La Cruz 2 run double and Dawson 2 run single. Smith made a rehab start for the Skeeters and had a perfect inning with 2 strikeouts. He was relieved by Pruitt who tossed a scoreless inning and then James also had a scoreless inning in relief. The Skeeters picked up 2 runs in the 6th on a wild pitch and a De La Cruz RBI single. In the 7th they blew it open scoring 5 runs on a Shaver RBI single, RBI doubles from De Goti, Meyers, and Hinojosa, and then an RBI single from De La Cruz. Conine closed it out allowing 1 run over the final 5 innings.

Note: De La Cruz is hitting .335 with 38 RBI this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (25-29) won 10-8 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got off to a great start scoring 5 runs in the first on a Lee 2 run double, Manea 2 run HR and McKenna solo HR. In the 3rd inning, Leon connected on a grand slam to right center, his 7th HR of the season. Bermudez started and went 4 innings allowing 4 runs. After Conn tossed 2 scoreless inning, DeJuneas allowed 4 run as the Missions got closer. In the 9th, Lee added some insurance with a solo HR, his 10th of the season. Olczak closed it out tossing 2 scoreless as the Hooks won 10-8.

Note: Lee is hitting .327 with 10 HR, 32 RBI this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (24-29) lost 6-1 (BOX SCORE)

Macuare got the start for Asheville and allowed 4 runs over 4 innings of work. The offense was quiet getting their only run on a Valdez solo HR in the 7th. De Paula allowed 1 unearned run over 3 innings in relief but the offense struggled overall as the Tourists lost 6-1.

Note: De Paula has a 2.41 ERA overall this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (22-31) lost 11-4 (BOX SCORE)

Tamarez started for the Woodpeckers and allowed 4 runs in 2 innings. He was relieved by Betances who allowed 2 runs in 1 innings. Fayetteville’s first run came in the 2nd on a Martinez RBI single. In the 4th, Daniels connected on a 2 run HR to center. Jimenez went 5.1 innings in relief allowed 4 runs. The Woodpeckers got a steal of home for another run in the 7th but that was it for the scoring as they lost 11-4.

Note: Corona has 14 SB in 38 games this season.
