Astros Prospect Report: July 3rd

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (28-22) won 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

France started for the Skeeters and despite walking 5, he still struck out 9 over 5.2 scoreless innings. Siri put the Skeeters on the board in the 4th inning with a solo HR in the 4th inning. In the 6th, De La Cruz added a solo HR to make it 2-0. De La Cruz wasn’t done as he added some insurance in the 8th with another solo HR. Abreu and Ferrell had scoreless outings in relief to close it out.

Note: De La Cruz is hitting .323 with 9 HR this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (24-29) lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

The offense has been pretty quiet recently and last night was no different. They picked up just four hits on the night. Daniels started for the Hooks and allowed 2 runs over 5.1 innings. He was relieved by Hernandez who allowed 1 unearned run in 2.2 innings. The offense was unable to score as the Hooks lost 3-0.

Note: Hernandez has a 2.19 ERA with 36 K in 24.2 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (24-28) won 12-0 (BOX SCORE)

Ruppenthal had a great start striking out 9 over 5 scoreless innings for the Tourists. The offense came out fast and furious scoring 4 in the first on a Barefoot RBI single, Nova 2 run HR and a run scoring on an error. They scored 4 more runs in the 2nd on a Holderbach RBI single and Barefoot 3 runs HR. In the 3rd they picked up another 2 runs on a Holderbach 2 run HR. Arias capped off the scoring with a 2 run HR in the 4th to go up 12-0. Cody closed it out striking out 7 over 4 scoreless innings.

Note: Barefoot has 12 HR, 39 RBI in 43 games this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (22-30) lost 16-4 (BOX SCORE)

Gomez started for Fayetteville and allowed 4 runs over 3 innings of work. He was relieved by Santos who allowed 1 run over 2.1 innings. Corona drove in the first run for the Woodpeckers with an RBI single in the 3rd. In the 4th, they picked up 3 runs to tie it on a Dirden RBI single, Mendoza sac fly and Daniels RBI single. Jaquez came in and that’s where things went south. He allowed 7 runs and Garcia allowed 3 runs before two position players pitched. The offense didn’t score again and lost 16-4.

Note: Correa is hitting .552 over his last 7 games.
