Astros Prospect Report: June 1st

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (17-6) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Hartman got the start for the Skeeters and was solid tossing 5 innings while allowing 2 runs, 1 earned. Sugar Land scored early getting 3 runs in the first inning on a Toro RBI single, a run scoring on an error, and a run scoring on a passed ball. LaRue closed it out tossing 4 scoreless innings and striking out five as the Skeets improved to 17-6.

Note: LaRue has a 1.00 ERA in 3 games this season.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (11-13) lost 9-1 (BOX SCORE)

Brown started for the Hooks and last just 3 innings allowing 3 runs and striking out 5. The offense got on the board in the 3rd on a Costes RBI double. Hernandez tossed a scoreless inning in relief before giving the ball to Record, who allowed 4 runs and retired just one batter. DeJuneas and Peck each allowed a run in relief and the offense was unable to score anything else as they fell 9-1.

Note: Costes is hitting .358 this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (12-12) lost 7-4 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board first with a solo HR in the first inning, his 4th HR of the season. They got another run in the second when a run scored on a double play. Brown started for the Tourists and went 5 innings allowing 2 runs. The offense got two more runs in the 6th on a Schreiber solo HR and a run on an error. Freure relieved Brown and allowed 4 runs in just 0.2 innings. Horrell would allow a run in relief and the offense was unable to get anything else going.

Note: Perez has 4 HR in 17 games this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (9-16) lost 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

Melendez started for the Woodpeckers and while he only lasted 2.2 innings, he did strike out 7 while allowing 1 unearned run. Holcomb was in next and he allowed 3 runs in 1.1 innings. He was relieved by Reina who allowed 2 runs in 3 innings of work. The offense finally got on the board in the 7th on an Arias RBI double and two more runs scoring on a couple errors. Garcia tossed two innings in relief allowing a run but the offense was unable to score anything else as they dropped this one 7-3.

Note: Melendez has 31 K in 15.0 innings this season.
