AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters - NO GAME
AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (0-1) lost 8-3 (BOX SCORE)
Chad Donato got the opening day start for the Hooks and went 3 innings allowing 2 runs (both unearned) while striking out four. Marty Costes tied the game up in the bottom of the second inning with a two out, two run single. Hernandez relieved Donato and allowed 1 run in his 1 inning of work. Parker Mushinski was next up but he was roughed up a bit allowing 6 hits and 3 runs in just 1.1 innings. Tommy DeJuneas came in and tossed 2 scoreless innings after Mushinski. The Hooks got one more run in the 6th on a Hensley solo HR but the Missions would add another 2 in the 9th as they won the opener 8-3.

A+: Asheville Tourists (0-1) lost 8-2 (BOX SCORE)
Blair Henley got the start for the Tourists last night but he struggled early on. He lasted only 2 innings allowing 7 hits, 5 runs (4 earned). Felipe Tejada relieved Henley and allowed 1 run over 2 innings. It was a struggle offensively for the Tourists as they were no-hit through the first 5.2 innings until McKenna broke it up with a single to RF. Schreiber finally put the Tourists on the board in the 7th with a solo HR to make it 6-1. Bravo stopped the bleeding as he tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief of Tejada. In the bottom of the 8th, Colin Barber connected on a solo shot for the 2nd run of the game. The bullpen continued to struggle as they allowed another two runs. Asheville dropped the opener 8-2.

The Woodpeckers got the offense rolling in the 3rd inning when they got a sacrifice fly from Matthew Barefoot and then a 2 run home from Rodriguez. Cesar Gomez made his Astros organization debut and was great as he tossed 5 scoreless innings allowing just 1 hit and striking out 4. He was relieved by Tamara who struggled and allowed 6 runs (a couple were after he was pulled) in just 1.1 innings. JC Correa got one run back in the 8th with a solo HR, the first of his professional career. The Woodpeckers would get one more run in the 9th but ultimately fell 6-5 in the opener.
