Great win last night.
Lance McCullers again tantalized us with his potential. Seven scoreless innings, nine K’s, and for once, great fastball command.
This starting pitching rotation, with Greinke, Javier, good McCullers, and hopefully the imminent return of healthy and effective Framber Valdez and Jake Odorizzi, is looking excellent sans Verlander, Cole, Keuchel, et al from the Cy Young (contending ) past.
Today we settle for the 2019 World Series-winning pitcher and hero Jose Urquidy. In 27 innings so far this year he has a 4.67 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. He’ll face Josh Fleming, who in 14.2 innings has a 1.23 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. Yet another lefty.
The Astros are in 3rd place in the AL West, one-half game behind Seattle and 1.5 games behind Oakland.
It’s the full-strength lineup today, with Maldonado catching.
