Jake Odorizzi makes his Astros debut tonight, and let’s hope he’s ready. We need a stopper after this three game skid the Astros are in, so let’s hope the former All-Star for the Twins is up to the task.
In other news the Astros and Martin Maldonado appear to be ready to sign an extension for the catcher for 2022, which means the Astros will have their current catching tandem through next year.
Mathew Boyd goes for the Tigers tonight. In 2020 he started 12 games with a 6.71 ERA. Let’s hope that’s the Boyd we see tonight, but so far in 2021 he’s seen a pretty noticeable turnaround. In 12.2 innings he has a 2.13 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. Time for the Astros bats to wake up. (with the exception of Yuli Gurriel who has a .523 OBP and a .400 BA with nine walks. What?)
Here’s today’s lineups.
