Astros Fall to Fish 1-0

MLB: Miami Marlins at Houston Astros
Brandon Bielak pitched three scoreless against the Marlins, 3/5/21
Jim Rassol-USA TODAY Sports

The Astros could not manage a run after yesterday’s 14 run slugfest, and got only two hits. One was a lead-off triple by the Spring’s most valuable player, Myles Straw in the fourth, but he remained stranded.

The Marlins scored on a solo-homer by Brian Anderson against starter Jose Urquidy in the second. In his Spring debut, ostensible starting rotation pitcher Urquidy allowed the one run, on two hits with no strikeouts in his two innings pitched.

Brandon Bielak made amends for his poor Spring Training opening day performance with three scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

Newly acquired veteran Steve Cishek finished the game with a scoreless seventh inning, striking out the side.

Tomorrow the Astros face Jacob DeGrom and the Mets at 5:05 CST. This game will be broadcast on live radio on KBME 790 AM/94.5 FM HD-2. The Astros’ starting pitcher is still to be determined.
