The Astros announce their ALDS Lineup

Surprisingly, Jake Odorizzi is left off the ALDS roster

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Houston Astros Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Here is the ALDS roster the Astros will take into the ALDS series with the Chicago White Sox, starting today at 3:07 CDT.

Surprisingly, Jake Odorizzi was excluded from the roster, thus every contestant in the TCB pick the ALDS roster contest failed to predict the correct roster, since every participant had Odorizzi on their roster.

Yes, a surprise that the prime off-season acquisition of GM James Click was excluded. But ostensibly, in a five-game series the Astros management did not believe they needed his services as a starter. And with Zack Greinke and Cristian Javier also available off the bench, Odorizzi’s services in long-relief were not deemed necessary either.

The Astros opted for three catchers, thus putting Garret Stubbs on the roster. And Jose Siri was added as a sixth outfielder, though his role will likely be as a pinch-runner. Fan favorite Marwin Gonzalez did not make the cut.

Despite the right-hand-heavy White Sox lineup, the Astros did keep one left-handed reliever, choosing Brooks Raley over Blake Taylor.
