With injuries to starters Lance Mccullers and Luis Garcia, and the ineffectiveness in the playoffs of Framber Valdez, I don’t have to tell most of you Astros enthusiasts how important this game in Boston is, or how important that clutch Jose Urquidy show up big-time on the mound.
But Boston has its own pitching problems. They send Eduardo Rodriguez to the mound. His 2021 ERA was 4.74, and in 6.2 IP this post-season his ERA was 5.40. For his career, his post-season ERA is 7.02.
In a surprise move, Astros manager Dusty Baker has inserted Jose Siri as the starter in center field batting eighth. The reason given: big center field and Siri’s strong arm. This despite Chas McCormick’s .883 post-season OPS this year.
Here’s the lineups.
