The Astros took the back door to the playoffs, losing in extras to the Rangers, but letting the Dodgers knock the angels out of contention last night in LA.
Today Dusty Baker tips his hat about his plans for the starting rotation in the playoffs, starting Lance McCullers, which means he would have to wait to be a Game 3 starter if Dusty plans on using him in the playoff rotation.
Although for the season Lance has been up and down, currently with a 4.24 ERA, in his two starts since coming back from IL has has not allowed an earned run in 13.2 innings, with FIP and xFIP each well below 3.00.
Bats seems to be waking up a bit just in time for the playoffs. In his last four games Alex Bregman has an OPS of 1.359 and two homers. In his last five games Jose Altuve seems to waking up too. He has an .833 OPS with two doubles and a homer.
Love to see the real Astros in the playoffs. They haven’t shown up much this short season.
The lineup is not available at time of publication.
