It’s the last home game as the Astros enter the home stretch for the playoffs.

The Astros probably lost the services of Justin Verlander for the remainder of his contract with the Astros, through 2021, so who will fill his shoes? Cristian Javier stepped in last night, leading the Stros to a 3-2 win over Arizona.

Today, all hope lies with another rookie, Jose Urquidy, pitching only his third game this season, but going in with a 2.70 ERA. Madison Bumgarner, having a terrible season, starts for the D-Backs.

This is the last home game for the Astros this year, with a big 3 game series in Seattle starting tomorrow. The Astros have a three game lead over the Mariners for second place in the AL West (and playoff contention) going into today’s action, so you know what the series in Seattle means. The Astros finish the season in Arlington.
