The Astros lost yet another game on the road last night, their seventh loss in their last eight games. Six of those losses, including last night’s, happened on the last at bat of the opposing team. The Astros are now at .500, 5.5 games behind the A’s, and only 2.5 games ahead of the Mariners for the all-important second place in the standings that insures a play off berth.
The Astros send Jose Urquidy to the mound in only his second appearance of the season. He gave up 2 runs in his earlier start in 3.2 innings. His season was delayed by COVID 19. His opponent is Sean Manaea, 3-2, with a 5.09 ERA
After today’s game the Astros will have only fifteen games to catch the A’s for first place. A loss virtually insures a first place finish for the A’s, and brings the Mariners to within two games of the Astros for second place.
Here’s the Astros’ lineup.
