The Astros are likely still shell-shocked after last night’s 13-2 shellacking to the Friars last night, who had six homers, including three by Will Myers. It was back to Earth for rookie Brandon Bielak, who allowed seven runs in only 1.1 innings.
But the Astros will finish their series in San Diego behind their best stopper in 2020, Zack Greinke, who brings a 1.84 ERA into the game, and pitched seven scoreless in his last game.
Greinke is opposed by Cuban lefty Adrian Morejon, who makes his second start this season, although he may be just an opener. He has pitched only 11 innings in his MLB career and has a 7.36 career ERA.
Despite losing their last two games after an eight game winning streak, the Astros remain 3.5 games behind the A’s for the AL West lead, but 4.5 games ahead of the Rangers in all-important second place.
It had to happen. You can’t keep a good man down. Jose Altuve had his fourth straight multi-hit game last night and is 9 for his last 18 at bats. During that time he has raised his BA 53 points.
Promising slugger Taylor Jones had his first career homer last night.
Here’s the lineup for tonight’s game. Michael Brantley is off IL and in the lineup. Kyle Tucker is cleanup. Way to go young man.
