Plus a recap of Monday’s walk-off against the Tigers

MLB: Spring Training-Houston Astros at New York Mets Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

If losing an hour of sleep bothered the Astros on Monday, they did a pretty good job of playing through it, winning a pitchers’ duel with the Tigers on a 2-1 walk-off. Zack Greinke threw four strong innings of four-hit baseball, allowing just one run in the second thanks to three ground ball hits. The Astros immediately answered back, though, with Carlos Correa drawing a leadoff walk, Dustin Garneau moving him up on a walk, and Myles Straw singling him in.

The bullpen took over from there, with Blake Taylor and Joe Smith combining for two innings of shutout ball. Austin Pruitt got the win, though, throwing the final three innings and striking out three while allowing just one hit and one walk. Garrett Stubbs worked a leadoff walk in the bottom of the ninth, the Nick Tanielu and Stephen Wrenn sent everyone home happy with back-to-back, two-out singles off of Kyle Funkhouser (who can at least fall back on his great baseball name).

Tuesday will see the Astros on the road, starting Josh James against Mike Soroka and the Braves. Hopefully, James steps up, since the Astros will need pitching help while they go without Justin Verlander for the start of the season. Today’s lineups are below; the game starts at 12:05 Central Time.
