The Astros lost one to the Mets in the ninth inning yesterday, after leading all game, 2-1. Astros fans should be encouraged by the success of the first three pitchers used in yesterday’s game, Framber Valdez, Chris Denvenski, and Bryan Abreu.
A leading contender for the fifth starter, Valdez pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, although he did allow two walks. This was the same line that appears on Abreu’s cox score. Pitching between them, Devenski, who is vying for a spot on the bullpen roster, threw 1.1 scoreless innings.
