Monday was a bit of a blowout

MLB: Spring Training-Houston Astros at Detroit Tigers Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

You would expect a Tigers-Astros game in 2020 to be a bit of a mismatch, and the fact that it’s Spring Training didn’t change much yesterday, as Houston prevailed 11-1. Bryan Abreu picked up the win, with 2.0 innings featuring 4 strikeouts and a whole lot of zeroes otherwise. Meanwhile, the Astros started the scoring early, with Garrett Stubbs hitting a second-inning homer off of Matt Boyd. The five pitchers after Abreu kept Detroit to just a single run. Meanwhile, the Astros’ offense poured it on, including homers from Myles Straw, Corey Julks (which was a seventh-inning grand slam), and Jake Adams. Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, and Jack Mayfield each added doubles, and there were seven other hits outside of that.

Today’s game won’t really be less of a mismatch, with the Astros facing another 100-loss team from 2019, the Marlins. Of course, anything can happen in baseball, especially Spring Training baseball, so maybe it will be a little closer matchup. Today’s lineup:
