The Astros crushed it, bro. Ten to five in Game one of the ALDS against the best the A’s have to offer.
Three homers, two by Carlos Correa, and clutch hitting. (four for ten with RISP, 16 hits total) gave the Stros the win. Although starter Lance McCullers struggled with giving up long balls, the bullpen was almost perfect; five innings, no runs, no hits, one walk.
Today the Astros’ best pitcher this year, surprising Framber Valdez, takes the mound. He’s 5-3, with a 3.57 ERA. Against the Twins he pitched five scoreless innings in relief to get the win in Game one of the Wild Card Series.
His opponent was once considered the As ace, Sean Manaea. Although his season stats are not that impressive, 4-3, 4.50 ERA, since August 15th he’s settled down, compiling a 2.77 ERA.
The Astros lineup is the same as yesterday’s. Here it is.
