It’s been another great Astros season. but these last few days are the days that try fans’ souls. Terrible loss yesterday; the Astros blew a superb Verlander two-hitter with pitiful hitting and terrible base running. It happens, even when your team supposedly has the best odds of winning a game in all history.
Then there’s the injuries. Carlos Correa is officially on IL, and today the Astros announced that Ryan Pressly will have knee surgery that will put him out of action potentially into the ALDS.
But there’s help on the way! Abraham Toro was called up and will start today at 3B. He has been the biggest surprise in the minors this year, well, except for one other, and maybe he can bring the same spark to the big club as that one other did.
Gerrit Cole, like Justin Verlander on a quest for a Cy Young award, is the starting pitcher for the Stros tonight. His opponent is former All_Star Jordan Zimmerman. Zimmerman is far from his glory days, currently 1 - 8, with a wicked 6.66 ERA.
