It’s the dog days on the road for the Astros right now. Just when we thought their moves at the trade deadline had made them invincible, they are currently in a four-game losing streak, and have lost five of the last six games. Last night was particularly painful, a walk-off loss in the 13th inning to today’s foe, the A’s.
The Astros are currently 3.5 games behind the Yankees for home field advantage in the American league, but there’s a lot of baseball left to play this season. Both the Yankees and Astros know how to slug, but the Astros are hoping to leverage their apparent advantage in starting pitching into home field advantage throughout the playoffs. And that would mean max use of rookie DH slugger Yordan Alvarez, if the Astros make the World Series.
So in case you thought, the Astros will win the division so these games don’t count, you’re wrong.
Here’s today’s Astros lineup.
