The home run bug continues to bite Justin Verlander and increasingly he cannot escape its consequences. Last night three home runs in seven innings cost him four runs, and the Mike Trout home run off Hector Rondon gave the Angels the one run margin of victory for a their 5-4 win.

Home runs by the Astros’ Michael Brantley and Yuli Gurriel came just short for the Astros. Gurriel’s homer was his seventh in his last nine games.

Tonight AL strikeout leader Gerrit Cole (8-5, 3.28 ERA) faces the Angels’ Andrew Heaney (1-2, 5.40 ERA.
