Are baseballs managers about to be taught the same lesson all over again?

This Spring we learned that established players have been overvalued. It was a particularly hard lesson for Dallas Keuchel and a few of his fellow free agents. Many of their representatives are still nonplussed and will require remedial education. Summer school (the trade deadline) for managers is about to commence. The prices many managers are holding out for are never going to be realized. The players on the market are just not that good. This lesson in economics is one that bears repeating, and it will be repeated until it finally sinks in. The fantasy of turning your whole franchise around with a couple of quick transactions is emblematic of the lack of economic understanding that permeates much of our society. In the end reality is always the final arbiter, and the sooner that lesson is learned the better for everybody involved.

This is probably as much about me getting worked up about things I can't change as it is about the trade deadline.
I believe it may bear some discussion anyway, and I could not think of a better place to put it.
