According to Mark Berman of Fox 26, the Astros have designated for assignment 1B/ DH. Tyler White.
The pitching deprived Astros have called up Jose Urquidy to the 25-man roster to replace him. Urquidy will start tomorrow’s game.

White has seven days to pass through waivers. Chandler Rome explains all the possibilities here:
The Astros have seven days to either trade Tyler White or pass him through waivers. If White goes unclaimed on waivers, he will either be outrighted back to an Astros minor league affiliate or released

White slashed .225/.320/.330 with 74 strikeouts in 253 plate appearances
After hitting 12 home runs in only 66 games last year, the Astros relied on him to provide similar punch from the DH position this year. He has been a major disappointment, getting only 3 home runs in 71 games. With the emergence of Yordan Alvarez, and the imminent return of Aledmys Diaz and Carlos Correa from IL, White has become extremely expendable.
Tyler White was drafted in the 33rd round in 2013, and his Cinderella story has made him a fan favorite since 2016, when he won player of the week in the first week of the season as a rooklie. Yet, when he had finally earned a starting role this year, he failed to capitalize.
I hope I speak for every reader of the Crawfish Boxes in wishing Tyler White success wherever he may end up.
We’ve rooted for you all the way, and we will continue to do so.
Thank you, Tyler White, you great shark.
P.S. Who’s gonna pitch in the blow-outs now? Tyler White has the most effective eephus pitch in baseball.
