As predicted by Eric Huysman earlier this morning here at TCB, the Astros have made another move after sending Framber Valdez to AAA. According to Jake Kaplan, the Astros are promoting Cy Sneed to the 25 man roster. To make room on the 40 man roster, which is full, the Astros placed Joe Smith on the 60 day IL.
Cy Sneed was acquired by the Astros organization after the 2015 season in a trade with Milwaukee for Jonathon Villar. In 70.1 IP at AAA Round Rock the 26 year old Sneed has a record of 5-6, with a 4.48 ERA.
The Astros currently have only seven relief pitchers on the 25 man roster, and in last night’s blow out loss to Pittsburgh, they used two position players to finish the game.
Here is Kaplan’s report.
The Astros are calling up Cy Sneed from Triple A to replace Framber Valdez on the active roster, sources tell The Athletic.
