A needed day off yesterday for the Astros, who had three extra inning games last week, losing their first one all year to the Brewers on Wednesday night in fourteen innings. To fortify the bullpen, the Astros called up Rogelio Armenteros, who will wear a Big League uniform for the first time tonight. Derek Fisher was sent back to AAA.

The Blue Jays are a young team with a lot of pedigree, players with names like Guerrero, Biggio, Gurriel. Shouldn’t be too long before the Blue Jays are back in the discussion in the tough AL East.

Tonight they face the flame throwing, dart tossing veteran, Gerrit Cole (5-5, 3.72 ERA). Should be an interesting learning experience for the youngsters. The Blue Jays counter with Aaron Sanchez (3-7, 4.25 ERA).

Of course, the Astros are without important core elements of their team, George Springer, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Collin McHugh, Aledmys Diaz and others. Nontheless, since these injuries they have been 15-7 with six one run victories during this span. Today Altuve and McHugh begin rehab assignments playing in the depleted ranks of the AAA Round Rock Express.
