What a great win last night. With three of the Core Four out, the next men up more than stepped up to the plate. (Haha, see what I did there) Jack Mayfield’s superb stop of a hot grounder to save a run. Tyler White running like an outfielder to catch a foul ball in the spacious confines of Oakland stadium. Tony Kemp making acrobat plays at second and a game tying double. And, of course, Derek Fisher, who really did step up to the plate with a monster game winning homer in the eighth.
Brad Peacock, Hector Rondon, Ryan Pressly and Roberto Osuna were good enough to give the offense a chance to pull it out. Astros win, 3-2.
Tonight it’s Justin Verlander, 8-2, 2.38 ERA, against Brett Anderson, 6-3, 3.86 ERA.
Here’s the lineup and the media access information.
