If you haven’t already heard, today is a cloudy day in Astroland, as Carlos Correa will not be in the lineup for the second straight day, complaining of rib soreness. He will be evaluated by team doctors.

Jose Altuve suffered a setback during his rehab assignment for a hamstring injury, complaining of fatigue and soreness in his right knee, the one that underwent surgery during the off-season. He will remain on IL, and according to Jeff Luhnow, his situation should be resolved “in a few weeks.”

In the case of both players the official response is optimistic, that they are minor injuries that will not threaten the players’ seasons. Time will tell. Rookie Jack Mayfield will play shortstop tonight for the Astros.

Meanwhile, another rookie, Corbin Martin starts for the Astros. After such a promising first game in the majors, Martin has struggled in his last two starts, and may be fighting to retain his position in the rotation. Jon Lester, the Cubs ace, is his mound opponent.

Last night Gerrit Cole was near his very best, striking out 12 Cubs in six innings of 3 hit ball. The bullpen was shaky, but Roberto Osuna, who inherited a 6-3 lead in the ninth, managed to hold on to save a 6-5 win for Cole and the Astros.

Here is the Astros lineup and media access information.
