Well, the Astros scored four runs last night, enough to win every other game they played this year. But last night Justin Verlander, of all people, melted down, allowing four runs in four innings, and by the time Fraber Valdez was done pitching relief, the Astros had lost their fourth game in a row, 6-4.
The Astros left 11 runners on base, and were 1-11 with RISP. For the season the Astros are batting .100 with RISP.
Tonight Gerrit Cole faces the Rangers’ Mike Minor, who gave up 6 runs in 4.2 innings on Opening Day. For his career he has a 4.02 ERA in 892 IP. Cole lost his only other game this year, thanks to 3 unearned runs despite 10 strikeouts.
