Game 3 Thread. March 30th, 2019, 5:10 CDT. Astros vs. Rays.

After a shaky Spring, Collin McHugh makes his return as Astros starting pitcher. Join the discussion.

MLB: Houston Astros at Tampa Bay Rays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Astros lost a tough one last night that it seems they should have won. They blew a great start by Gerrit Cole, featuring 10 strikeouts, by allowing three unearned runs from an error by Aledmys Diaz, handing the Rays a 4-2 win.

The Astros scoring came off a double by Michael Brantley, who homered the night before. Nice to see one of our new Astros starting off on fire.

Tonight Collin McHugh gets his first start since 2017. We’ve been pretty high on McHugh here at TCB, (Here, Here and Here) but he was frankly terrible in Spring Training, with a 15.88 ERA in his few appearances, so it will be interesting to see if that was just winter rust shaking off, or if there was something more fundamentally wrong. We’ll find out today.

The Rays counter with Tyler Glasnow, who in 11 starts last year had a 4.20 ERA. Lifetime he has 28 starts with a 5.35 ERA.
