Mike Trout to re-sign with the Angels. (poll included)

12 year, $430 million

MLB: Spring Training-Cleveland Indians at Los Angeles Angels Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

If the reports are true, and they are widely reported throughout media-land, Mike Trout is about to sign the biggest contract in sports history; $430 million over 12 years. That’s an AAV of $35.8 million. He will be signed through his age 39 season.

More here.

A few fun Trout facts. Angels owner Art Moreno bought the Angels for half this contract: $184 million.

Trout’s annual salary is almost as large as the salary for Tampa Bay’s 25 man roster: $39.7 million.

At age 32 the Angels signed a 10 year, $252 million contact with Albert Pujols. At age 32 Trout will have 7 years and approximately the same amount due before his contract expires.

Mike Trout has hit 11,1 miles of home runs. See them all here.

Is this a good contract for the Angels?

Are you glad that the Astros get to play against Mike Trout for the next 12 years?

Will the Angels ever be able to build around him in the near or long-term?
