The Astros lost the first two games of the World Series at home, and were humiliated in Game 2 in a 12-3 blowout. Heading to D. C., it looked like the Astros were dead in the water.
My, how fortunes have changed. The Stros have turned the tables on the Nats, taking two games on the road to even the series 2-2. The home team has lost every game so far in this Series.
With the World Series now past the half-way point, which player is most responsible for the Astros comeback?
Michael Brantley:
Team leader in WS OPS for every game starters, .997, 3 runs, 2 RBI
Jose Atuve:
.950 OPS, 3 doubles, 4 runs
Robinson Chirinos:
1.364 OPS, 2 home runs, 2 runs, 3 RBI.
Alex Bregman:
2 home runs, 7 RBI, grand slam and 5 RBI in Game 4
Zack Greinke:
4.2 innings allowing one run in Game 3 victory
Jose Urquidy:
5 shutout innings in Game 4 victory
Will Smith:
3.1 innings in relief, no runs, 4 Ks.
Fun fact:
The catcher position has been the most productive for the Astros so far. Between Martin Maldonado and Chirinos, the have a combined 1.333 OPS with 3 home runs.
Catch Game 5 tonight, 7:07 CDT on Fox. Game 1 rematch: Max Scherzer vs Gerrit Cole
Breaking news. Scherzer is scratched with back issues. Lie Ross starts for the Nats tonight.
