Astros Roster Move: Osuna Activated from Restricted List, McCullers to 10-day DL

Osuna will join the big-league club today in a swirl of controversy

MLB: Game Two-Kansas City Royals at Toronto Blue Jays Gerry Angus-USA TODAY Sports

The Astros have activated Roberto Osuna from the restricted list and placed Lance McCullers on the 10-day DL.

Before his suspension Osuna had pitched to a 2.93 ERA with 7.63 K/9 and 0.59 BB/0 in 15.1 IP after about a month of play. He has not given up a home run in that time frame. Osuna is expected to make in immediate impact, one way or another. Indications are that Osuna will take over the closer role, but is expected to get a few looks at the MLB level first after his extended time off.

He will take Lance’s spot, who left last night’s game against the Dodgers early with stiffness in his right elbow after cruising through 4 innings. This move guarantees that Lance will miss a start, but the rotation may be able to absorb that with the extra day off, precluding the need for a spot start if Lance can recover quickly.

Of course we’re all aware of the controversy. Please be respectful of others in the comments section and try not to rehash old arguments. We do not need to savage each other over this.
