Game Thread no. 130. Oakland A’s at Houston Astros. Aug. 28, 2018, 7:10 CDT

Come join the discussion as the Houston Astros try to dash the fledgling hopes of the young Oakland A’s in game two of the three game series for control of the AL West lead.

MLB: Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The Astros won a statement game last night, 11-4, dashing Oakland’s hope for a sweep which would have given them first place in the AL West. It’s the Astros who now hope for the sweep, which would make the A’s’ odds of winning the divisional crown very long indeed, especially considering the tough schedule they face going forward.

The Astros send Charlie Morton, 13-3, against Edwin Jackson, 4-3. For more info on the game’s match ups see CKuno’s excellent write up here.

Here is tonight’s Astros lineup.
