Game Thread No.122: Houston Astros at Oakland A’s, August 18, 2018, 3:05 PM CDT

The Astros and A’s vie for first place in the AL West.

MLB: Houston Astros at Oakland Athletics
Martin Maldonado scores after hitting the second Astros home run, the first by Alex Bregman. It was his first as an Astro.

The Astros lost a tough one last night in extra innings to the A’s, in part due to a controversial call in the ninth inning. The A’s would walk it off in the tenth, and in so doing pull to within one game of the AL West lead. If they win today the AL West will be tied between the two teams playing today, with the A’s hoping to take sole possession tomorrow with a series sweep.

Dallas Keuchel takes the mound today for the Stros to stop the madness. He will be opposed by Trevor Cahill.
