AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (70-51) won 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

Valdez made his first AAA start last night and started really well not allowing a run through the first five innings. He struggled a bit in the 6th and gave up 3 runs before being pulled. The offense gave him a nice lead to work with though with Davis connecting on a 3 run HR in the 4th. Fresno picked up 2 more in the 5th on a Mayfield sac fly and Davis RBI single. De Goti scored on a wild pitch in the 6th to give Fresno their 6th run. The bullpen was solid tossing 3.1 scoreless innings. Devenski made a rehab appearance and allowed 2 hits and no runs over 0.2 innings.

Note: Straw is 61-for-69 in stolen base attempts this year.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (74-46) won 10-6 (BOX SCORE)

Whitley made his return from the DL and tossed 2 scoreless innings before being pulled. The offense scored early and often getting a run in the first on a Toro RBI double and 3 in the 2nd on a Benedetti 2 run single and another run scoring on an error. In the 3rd inning the Hooks picked up 1 run on a McCormick RBI single and then picked up 3 more in the 4th on a Sierra solo HR, Benedetti sac fly, and Rojas RBI triple. Ferrell relieved Whitley and struck out 5 over 2 innings. The Hooks added a little more insurance on a Toro RBI double and McCormick sac fly. Bailey pitched the last 5 innings allowing 5 runs but was still able to get the save.

Note: Toro is hitting .351 with 7 RBI over his last 10 games.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (67-51) won 9-6 (BOX SCORE)

The Astros offense got off to a nice start scoring 4 runs in the 1st inning on a Beer RBI single, Robinson RBI single and Adams 2 run HR. They picked up 2 more in the 2nd on a Meyers 2 run HR. Hernandez started for Buies Creek and pitched well allowing just 1 run over 5 innings. The offense got some insurance in the 5th on a Bohanek RBI single and 2 more in the 6th on a Duarte RBI groundout and Beer RBI single. The bullpen struggled a bit allowing 5 runs but in the end they were able to hold on for the 9-6 win.

Note: Robinson is hitting .374 with 2 HR, 10 RBI over his last 10 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (69-52) won 5-0 (BOX SCORE)

Abreu got the start and continued his domination of the Midwest League as he tossed 6 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts. Mattix got the River Bandits on the board with a 2 run double in the 2nd inning. Sierra added a 2 run HR in the 4th to make it 4-0. In the 6th inning Shaver connected on a solo HR to expand the lead to 5-0. The bullpen of Castellanos and Paulino tossed 2 scoreless innings to close it.

Note: Abreu has a 0.34 ERA with 7 BB/47 K in 26.2 innings for Quad Cities.
