AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (48-35) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Dykxhoorn bounced back nicely from a rough start last time to go 7 innings allowing just 1 run last night. Kemmer got Fresno on the board with a solo HR in the 4th. Davis connected on a solo HR in the 6th to give Fresno a 2-1 lead. The game would stay 2-1 until the 9th. Guduan came in to close it out but allowed Sacramento to tie it with a run. Fresno picked up a run in the top of the 10th on a Straw RBI fielder’s choice. McCurry got his shot to close it out but Sacramento was able to score 2 runs to walk it off for the 4-3 win.

Note: Straw is hitting .400 over his last 10 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (51-29) won 7-2 (BOX SCORE)

Hartman has been pitching well of late and it continued last night as he went 6 innings allowing just 1 run and striking out 8. The Hooks got on the board on a Cesar RBI single in the first. That is the only run they would score through the first 8 innings as they entered the 9th down 2-1. In the 9th they rallied for 6 runs on a McCormick RBI single, Wrenn RBI groundout, Cesar RBI single, Alvarez 2 run HR (12) and Quintana solo HR (4). Ferrell was solid in relief and Pinales tossed a scoreless 9th to seal the win.

Note: Hartman has a 2.96 ERA with 16 BB/83 K in 70.0 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (46-35) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Perez started for Buies Creek and had another strong outing striking out 7 over 5 innings while allowing 2 runs. The big key is the zero walks. That is back to back starts for him with no walks. Meyers got Buies Creek on the board with a solo HR in the 3rd inning. The Astros would tie it on a Toro RBI groundout in the 7th. Unfortunately, Carolina got a run right back off Javier (1 ER in 2.1 innings) and eventually won 3-2.

Note: Perez last 5 outings - 1.40 ERA, 25.2 IP, 16 H, 4 ER, 6 BB, 34 K


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (46-36) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for Quad Cities and was solid allowing only 2 runs in 5 innings. Quad Cities got on the board in the 2nd inning when Mattix doubled and scored on an error. The River Bandits picked up 2 more runs in the 4th on a Shaver RBI double and Schreiber RBI double. Beer doubled and scored on a Shaver RBI single in the 8th to make it 4-2. Rosado picked up the save tossing 4 scoreless innings to close it.

Note: Beer is hitting .323 with 5 2B, 4 HR, 12 RBI in 16 games this season.
