MLB: Spring Training-Miami Marlins at Houston Astros Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (16-8) won 11-5 (BOX SCORE)

Fresno keeps on rolling. Tyler White got the Grizzlies on the board with an RBI double in the first inning and Mayfield added a sac fly in the 2nd inning to make it 2-0. Martes got the start and really struggled with his command walking 8 guys in 4.1 innings. Tacoma temporarily took a 5-2 lead in the 5th but Fresno would respond immediately scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the inning on a Kyle Tucker RBI double, White RBI single, Mayfield RBI single and a run scoring on a fielder’s choice. Tim Federowicz got in on the action hitting a 3 run HR in the 7th. Tucker capped them game off with a 2 run HR in the 8th, his 2nd of the season. McCurry closed it out with a scoreless 9th.

Note: Tucker has 7 2B, 2 HR, 14 RBI in 21 AAA games.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (15-8) won 8-3 (BOX SCORE)

Somewhat wild game in Corpus. Framber Valdez got the start and allowed 3 runs over 3 innings, though he picked up 7 strikeouts. Corpus Christi went into the 5th down 3-0 and put together a rally for 7 runs thanks to a Wrenn solo HR, Alvarez RBI double, Jones 2 run HR, Birk RBI triple, and De Goti 2 run HR. Wrenn added an RBI single in the 8th capping off his 3 hit night. Josh James pitched the final 4 innings in dominant fashion and he now has 34 K in 20 IP this season. 15-8 is the best 23 game start in Corpus Christi Hooks’ history.

Note: Jones is hitting .424 with 3 HR, 13 RBI over his last 10 games.

A+: Buies Creek Astros (16-8) lost 9-4 (BOX SCORE)

Rough loss for Buies Creek, who had been playing some great baseball. Bielak got the start and picked up 5 strikeouts in 4 innings but allowed 3 runs, 2 earned. The offense was scoreless until the 8th when they got a Toro RBI single, McCormick RBI single and Sieber 2 run double. It wasn’t enough though as Frederick put up 9 runs and picked up the win.

Note: Bielak has 33 K in 22.1 IP with a 1.61 ERA this season.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (10-12) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Quad Cities jumped out to a quick 2-0 in the first inning on a Tovalin RBI single and another run scoring on an error. Unfortunately, that is all they would score in the game. Parker Mushinski made the start and allowed 1 unearned over his 4 innings. The bullpen allowed three more runs though as Cedar Rapids came back and won it.

Note: De La Cruz is hitting .410 with 8 RBI over his last 10 games.
