Astros Decline Option on Brian McCann

One part of the knot the represents the off-season decision making for the Astros was untied earlier today. To the surprise of few the Astros decided not to exercise the $15 million option on the contract of Brian McCann, meaning he will probably not play for the Astros next year.

A pivotal part of the magical 2017 World Championship Astros squad, he had an injury plagued season in 2018 and only hit .212. His contract for 2018 added $17 million to the team’s payroll.
