Astros Open Forum: What are the Astros Needs in 2019? What Will They Do?

We know Jeff Luhnow reads TCB. Tell him what to do.

I’ll start this.

As things stand now, these are the weak spots on the Astros likely 2019 roster that the they are going to need to improve.

The Astros are probably losing three of their five starting pitchers for next year; Dallas Keuchel, FA. Charlie Morton, FA/possible injury. Lance McCullers, probable injury.

The Astros are probably losing their main DH, Evan Gattis, who was very subpar anyway. Do you trust Tyler White here, or was his September slump the real White?

The Astros are probably losing Marwin Gonzalez, utility player/left fielder to FA.

Left field. Is Tony Kemp your starter?

1st Base. At 107 wRC+ in 2018, down from 119 in 2017, and entering his age 35 season, with only 13 home runs, Yuli Gurriel’s production is well below average for a first baseman. Is he the next utilityman? And if so, who will be at first?

Catcher. Brian McCann is a free agent and probably no longer viable. Are Martin Maldonado and Max Stassi really the answers?

What combination of free agents, trades, and prospects fills these gaps?

Tell us what YOU think.
