Preview

Hello, old friend. After blowing Friday’s game, the Astros face former Astros prospect Daniel Mengden.

Mengden was one of the pieces that were sent to Oakland for Scott Kazmir in 2015. Mengden was a fourth round draft pick in 2014 out of Texas A&M.

Mengden has been consistent in the minors, he was 2-4 with 3.72 ERA in 11 starts. But he hasn’t found the same groove in Oakland. He is 2-10 with a 6.86 ERA in 16 career starts with the A's.

Mengden is 0-2 with a 7.63 in three career starts against the Astros.

Charlie Morton starts for the Astros. Morton is 1-2 with a 4.20 ERA in five starts during August. He allowed two earned runs over five innings in his last start against the Mets on Sept. 2.
