Preview

The Seattle Mariners have made constant headlines for making move after move this season under new general manager Jerry Dipoto. But it was the Houston Astros that may have made the biggest move of the 2017 season with the addition of Justin Verlander.

The Astros get to show off their new toys and get back a few of their old toys in the starting rotation. The Astros set their ideal rotation for the Mariners series with Dallas Keuchel going ahead of Justin Verlander and Lance McCullers Jr.

Keuchel was 2-3 with 5.05 ERA during the month of August, his worst month of 2017. Minus two rough outings, Keuchel did show his Cy Young form for three quality starts.

Keuchel is 6-5 with 2.82 ERA in 13 career games (12 starts) against the Mariners. He is 2-3 with 3.34 ERA in six games (five starts) at Safeco Field. He is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER in 7 IP) against the Mariners in 2017.

Robinson Cano is 9-for-32 with one home run and five RBIs against Keuchel. Nelson Cruz has three home run in 24 career at-bat. Danny Valencia is batting .444 (8-for-18) against Keuchel.

Erasmo Ramírez is 1-2 with a 3.62 ERA in six starts during the month of August. He enters the game with four straight quality starts under his belt.

Ramírez is 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA in seven games (four starts) against the Astros in his career. He hasn't faced the Astros since 2016, pitching two scoreless innings of relief.

Evan Gattis is 4-for-9 with two home runs off Ramirez. Josh Reddicks is 2-for-17 with four strikeouts.
