Houston Astros made one of the team’s most ambitious moves in franchise history at the end of August. The team added Tigers long-time ace, Justin Verlander for three prospects.
Verlander didn’t arrive in Houston until Saturday, during the first game of the doubleheader to be exact. Verlander was trotted out in front of the media on Sunday:
Verlander talked about coming to the Astros:
"I'm excited to be here. This was an emotional decision for me being in a place so long like Detroit. I'm excited for my new family. I had to pitch against this team, so I know how good they are. Everyone has been amazing. Hopefully, I can help bring a championship to a city that could use something like that right now. We can give the city something to rally around."
Manager A.J. Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow talked about the positive vibes created by Verlander’s addition:
"We are in full go-for-it mode," Astros GM Jeff Luhnow.

"We've got too much starting pitching. Imagine that. We'll sort it out," Astros manager A.J. Hinch.
