The Houston Astros took the Silver Boot on Monday, knocked the Rangers out of the playoffs on Tuesday, and swept the Rangers on Wednesday. Behind another explosive offensive output and Justin Verlander, the Astros won 12-2.

Jose Altuve collected his 200th hit in the first inning with a single to right field. He has collected 200 hits for four straight seasons.

The Astros scored two runs in the first off four singles. And didn’t break the game open until the sixth inning with a 7-spot on the Rangers bullpen.

George Springer hit a grand slam off Tony Barnette and Carlos Correa added his 23rd home run of the season to put Houston up 11-2.

Alex Bregman doubled in a run extended the lead to 12-2.

Justin Verlander allowed two earned runs on six hits over six innings. Francisco Liriano, Luke Gregerson, and Tony Sipp combined to pitch three clean innings in relief.
