Evan Gattis hadn’t hit a home run since late July. He broke that streak on Saturday in the Astros’ 6-2 win over the Angels on Saturday at Minute Maid Park.
Behind Charlie Morton, key hits from Carlos Correa and Gattis the Astros sent the Angels to their sixth straight loss and remain four games out of the wild card.
Correa continues to round into form after coming off the DL this month with a RBI single in the first inning. He brought home a second in the fifth inning with a double off the wall in left. And Gattis allowed Marwin Gonzalez and Correa to walk home on a monster home run into the Crawford Boxes off Eduardo Paredes.
Correa collected his third RBI of the game in the seventh after Gonzalez got a one-out double off Fernando Salas.
Correa was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and an intentional walk.
Charlie Morton allowed one run on four hits over seven innings. He struck out five and walked one. Bud Norris allowed one run on three hits over 3 1/3 innings
The Angels only offense came from Justin Upton, who had two solo home runs. Upton is under contract till 2021 with the Angels, so that should be fun.
