James Paxton owned the Astros in 2017. Entering Friday’s matchup, he was 2-0 is 0.45 ERA in three starts against the Astros during the 2017 season.

But Friday’s game wouldn’t go to script. Four of the first six batters would reach base against Paxton. The biggest blow coming from Carlos Correa who doubled home a run and Evan Gattis followed with a RBI single to put Houston up 3-0 after one frame.

The Astros added a fourth run in the fourth. Gattis went 2-for-2 to start the game with a double and scored on a Josh Reddick single.

The Mariners would get a run on throwing an error by Charlie Morton in the fifth, but the Astros got a run back in the sixth. A leadoff walk to Gattis turned into a RBI single from Cameron Maybin, after a fielder’s choice groundout by Tyler White.

The Game was in hand behind Morton, who had allowed one earned run on five hits.

Franciso Liriano appears to have found his relief form, striking out the side in the eighth.

Ken Giles picked up his 31st save with a strikeout.
