The Houston Astros return home to the Bayou City with life a little more normal after Hurricane Harvey. The Astros heading down the stretch with two goals: finish off the AL West crown and see if the team can catch the surging Indians atop of the AL standings. The Astros’ magic number for the AL West is down to three and the Indians are only 2 1/2 games ahead.

The Astros send out Charlie Morton on Friday against the Mariners. Morton is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA in two starts during the month of September. He is 5-4 with a 3.90 ERA in 11 games since the All-Star Break.

Morton is 0-2 with a 4.58 ERA in three career starts against the Mariners, all three starts have come in 2017. Morton is 8-3 with a 3.64 ERA in 14 starts at Minute Maid Park.

Jean Segura has 30 career at-bats against Morton, he is batting .233 with a home run. Yonder Alonso is batting 1-for-12 with three strikeouts and Danny Valencia is 1-for-9 with five strikeouts.

James Paxton was activated from the 10-day disabled list, he’s been on the DL since Aug. 11 with a strained left pectoral muscle.

Before he was injured, Paxton was 5-0 with a 1.88 ERA since the All-Star Break.

Paxton is 3-2 with a 2.86 ERA in seven career starts. He is 2-0 is 0.45 ERA in three starts during 2017.

George Springer is 4-for-20 with two home runs against Paxton. Jose Altuve is batting .235 (4x17) with a double and five strikeouts. Evan Gattis is batting .278 (5x18) with two doubles.
