Preview

The Houston Astros found a way to look like a team that shouldn’t be in the playoffs for a series with Athletics. The Astros now try to put that four-game sweep in the rearview mirror with three more games on the west coast with Angels.

The Astros start off with their new toy on Tuesday. Justin Verlander makes his second start as an Astro, he allowed one run on six hits over six innings against the Mariners.

Verlander is 4-6 with a 4.78 ERA in 15 starts on the road. Verlander is 6-8 with 3.79 ERA in 17 career starts against the Angels. He is 2-5 with a 5.98 ERA in eight career starts at Angels Stadium.

Garrett Richards makes his second start since coming off the DL on Sept. 5. He allowed one run on four hits over 3 1/3 innings against Oakland in his one previous start.
