Things couldn’t be going much worse for the Houston Astros start this series against the Astros. Houston’s baseball club couldn’t come home and couldn’t come to an agreement to play in Texas. Instead, the team traveled to St. Petersburg to play at Tropicana Field.
The Astros players, coaches, and staff had their hearts and minds in Houston while getting thumped by the Rangers in the first two games. The Astros are coming home with a win in game three, 5-1 over the Rangers.
Jose Altuve answered a Rangers run in the first inning with a home run off the catwalk. Josh Reddick, Alex Bregman, and Derek Fisher each added RBI singles to put the Astros up for good.
The real story was the bullpen. Afer Collin McHugh went only 4 2⁄3 innings, Chris Devenski and Ken Giles combined to pitch the final 4 2⁄3 innings.
Devenski and Giles did not give up a hit and struck out three. Giles collected his 27th save with two-inning outing.
Bregman and Altuve each were 2-for-4 with two runs scored with an RBI.
