Astros miss chance to sweep A’s.

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Houston Astros Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Astros’ margin for error has dramatically shrunk with many of the Astros key players on the DL. That fact again reared its ugly head on Sunday as the Astros lost 3-2.

Two throwing errors scored two runs for the A’s in the first inning. The two runs were nearly enough to beat the Astros with Jharel Cotton on the mound. Cotton allowed two runs on four hits over 6 2/3. He struck out two and walked three.

The winning run was scored on a passed ball by Juan Centeno in the sixth inning.

The rough fielding day for the Astros spoiled a solid outing from Brad Peacock. Peacock allowed one earned run on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out eight and walked two.

Alex Bregman scored a run for Houston in the third with a sacrifice fly, after Jake Marsinick double. Marwin Gonzalez blasted a solo home run in the seventh inning.

The Astros spoiled two runners on base in the sixth inning with runners moving on a Josh Reddick pop fly that doubled up Alex Bregman.
